Hermann Göring; Field Marshal, Husband, Successor, but above all a Father...

Happy birthday, Hermann Göring.

- Hitler had the willpower of a demon and he needed it. If he didn't have such a strong willpower he couldn't have achieved anything. Don't forget, if Hitler had not lost the war, if he did not have to fight against the combination of big powers like England, America, and Russia - each one he could have conquered individually - these defendants and these generals would now be saying, 'Heil Hitler,' and would not be so damn critical.

On January 12, 1893, in Rosenheim, Germany, Hermann Göring was born in a modest home.

For a long time he had a close relationship with Lord Hitler.

At the start of World War II, the Luftwaffe was the most effective and powerful air force in the world. This was only possible because Hermann Göring was a former pilot and was intimately familiar with the difficulties of both piloting and the air force.

Hermann Göring shot down 22 enemy aircraft during the war and was awarded the Medal of Honor 1st Class (Pour le Mérite). The war was lost, but Hermann Göring was a war hero in the eyes of the people. He left the army in 1919 with the rank of Captain.

Göring and other senior officers were concerned that Germany was not yet ready for war, but Hitler insisted on advancing as soon as possible. On August 30, 1939, just before the outbreak of World War II, Hitler appointed Göring as head of a new six-person Cabinet. It was set up to function as a war cabinet.

Hitler promoted Göring to the rank of German: Reichsmarschall des Grossdeutschen Reiches (Template:Translation). Marshals in the army, including the Luftwaffe. As a result of this promotion, he became the highest-ranking soldier in Germany until the end of the war.

Hitler appointed Göring as his successor as Führer of all Germany, with Hess as a second alternative, "in case something happens to me". The great German victories came in rapid succession. With the help of the Luftwaffe, the Polish Air Force was defeated within a week.

After the war he had to appear at the Nuremberg Trials.

He had to commit suicide by drinking cyanide for his people, for the children who would be born after.

These people sacrificed themselves for us. If we can breathe today, it is because of those who died before us. The air we breathe is their last breath.

Happy birthday, Hermann Göring.
