One of the most important actors during the French Revolution was Joseph Fouché. He was initiated in Freemasonry in 1788 and was the protagonist of the movement of dechristianization. He helped establish the Cult of Reason and attacked Christianity in barbaric ways.
Fouché was a radical and voted for the execution of the king, for this reason he joined the Jacobins but was a sworn enemy of Robespierre and opposed the Cult of the Supreme Being. During the Reign of Terror, he was in hiding in Paris and plotted the downfall of Robespierre. Then he closed down the newly restarted Jacobin Club and participated in the coup d'etat that created the Consulate. Under Bonaparte he was Minister of Police.
Joseph Fouché may have been the only person that Napoleon feared. An extremely smart and strong person, he did not always agree with the emperor who --for fear of making him an enemy and to keep using him for his own benefits-- gave Fouché many honors, most importantly he was made Duke of Otranto. His Coat of Arms has very Satanic symbolism.
