The Goy-lem of France (Innocent, manga)
I have told last year my very positive experience reading the manga Innocent, set previously and during the French revolution, which didn't have much to do with spirituality, and had some fishy BS at the end:

The most meaningful realization of the manga though, in the continuation Innocent Rouge, is when the ultra feminist Marie and her pacifist brother Charles-Henri find the people of France to have become GOLEMS of the Jacobins, and their original ideals are thrown into the trash.
