That's a very cute imagery to me. Dragons are symbolically tied with the kundalini serpent as I've come to know with myself, the fire it's breathing likely being representative of the serpent being coiled at the base of the spine which is where the fiery base chakra is located. The actual base chakra element though is earth, but it has been described as fiery with the symbolical lower "hell". This makes sense when you are aware that dragons are symbolical of both these elements, earth and fire.

Likely you teaching it how to fly is representative of you teaching yourself your own strengths to eventually raise the kundalini through advancement to where you will eventually be able to finally bring it to rise (or in the case of your dream, get the dragon to successfully fly).
