These boards are marketed as talking boards, and the effect comes from your subconscious. It relies on something called the ideomotor effect where the body moves slightly based on your subconscious thoughts weather you intend it to or not. They are in fact only much of a good way to contact your subconscious mind, though meditation and thought are often a far better means to make sense of your subconscious.
Yeah, I had to throw that out there. A good dose of reality and research into why these things works does a lot more good than anything else.

Don't pay attention to this bullshit. The board's effectiveness is directly tied to your skill to concentrate and get into the trance state. Also, i found that some people have big problems getting results if they use a planchette, but using a pendulum proves to be much better. Use whatever works best for you.
If you want you can perform a ritual to consecrate your Ouija board, but it is completely optional. Just be carefull and make sure you don't end up getting fooled by an enemy spirit. Simply ask the entity to swear that they are of Satan. If they hesitate or refuse to do so, simply cease the contact, as they are of the enemy.

So I was buying a Spirit Board for Samhain, and I wanted something more authentic than the Parker Bros version. My question is this: is there a special ritual I should do with the board like I would with a Black Mirror--or can it be used as is? Should I channel energy into the board or cleanse it? The board I'm buying says it's pre-charged by a Shaman, but I think some personal charging couldn't hurt?
Any thoughts?
P.S. I've included the link to the board I bought below so you can see what I mean.
