I'm not really sure what I seek to ask but I'm faced with systemic health problems from birth that impact my quality of life. I'm sorry about the details and I'll try to as nondescript as possible.

When I was born I had a hernia that reached from my abdomen to my groin, which needed an emergency operation. (This is after a C-section due to oxygen deprivation resulting from the umbilical cord). I was told that I'd need support my entire life which (praise Satan's name) was not the case.

Life in adolescence was not easy and very isolating. Long story short, I have these issues burdening me that I've put off my whole life, mostly because of depression and nihilism which really was just an excuse that my mind created. It was a way for me to accept that I am less than everyone else and that this is just how the world is; everyone gets a different hand and there is no fate.

However, the JoS changed my thinking and made me see the truth of this world in such a monumental and powerful way. It was quite immediate. Since dedicating, Satan has been there for me in the most unexpected and touching of ways. He's the greatest father ever, the father of our creation.

Anyway, onto the challenges I face. I bouts of constipation, lack of appetite and fatty stool. My abdomen has also always been slightly bloated and the reduced motility creates pressure which causes bouts of frequent urination.

In terms of the second problem, I am incapable of engaging in sexual intercourse because there is a lack of bloodflow in that region.

I've obtained a requisition for an X-ray of my abdomen. The next step I think may be seeing a gastroenterologist, followed by a urologist. I hate the medical system though, hence why I feel compelled to make this post.

What are your thoughts on the medical system? For me, it is a terrible system that in itself is the leading cause of death in our societies. At the same time, it's run by regular people largely with good intentions, plus there are many cases where people improve their quality of life post-operation.

In my mind, the ancient people no doubt had far better methodologies of healing. I think of surgeries as a rough patching up; something that never fully heals, or at least not until one reaches magnum opus. I also hate this idea of fixing a surgery with another surgery; something I hear all too often.

I don't like X-rays at all because they blast sub-atomic particles (radiation) through your body, which has been linked to cancer. There are all kinds of anti-cancer remedies out there though (amygdalin, MMS, etc).

To any sensible person, there is so much risk when it comes to seeking medical treatment. My greatest hope is that I get something with high chances of success, and given my problems are semi-functional, I have some hope in that regard.

Thanks for reading and THANK YOU JoS for literally saving my life and for making me a better person.

What exactly is your question? What surgery are you talking about?

Medicine saves lives and can improve the quality of your life dramatically. Procedures are done on a cost-benefit analysis. You need to decide, taking into account your medical professionals' opinion, whether something is worth doing.

There is no harm in getting examined by a doctor and getting his expert opinion. X-ray imagery will not give you enough of a dose of radiation to put your health at risk. You should also consider whether neglecting your problems will lead to bigger complications down the line. Since this problem sounds GI in nature, your gastroenterologist can do an endoscopy to inspect the anatomy of your upper & lower GI system and do biopsies to test for disease & infection.

The "medical system" varies widely from country. So one simple answer is not possible.

Still, people are living longer than ever before, which suggests some level of skill on the part of the doctors.

Ancient people had "better methodologies"? Even after (rather arbitrarily) allowing for higher infant mortality rates, people of old lived neither all that long nor all that happily. Heck, look at the number of people dying even in our fathers' time before antibiotics and the like came into vogue circa WW2.

I do not like the medical system and gripe my share. But I have to allow it has saved my hide a time or three (four or five maybe.) I understand cursing doctors was almost a genre in funerary inscriptions in Greece, Rome, the Etruscan lands.
