I wanted for over 10 years to get a telescope and still haven't got to do it. My plan is to get on a clear sky rural area (not polluted) and just look at the sky for nights on end.

These apps are truly game-changers. I often use the Stellarium app for the same purpose. Mars is also visible to the naked eye and so are other planets. Sometimes, near the Orion constellation, you can spot a very bright red dot, this is Mars.

I once saw Mars (red), Saturn (yellow), and Jupiter all lined up in the night sky. I took a picture but did not have a high-quality camera. I had an app so I could see their names and against the constellations, but they were also visible with the naked eye.
